Use Emojis in Discord Status

How to Use Custom Emojis in Your Discord Status

Setting a custom status in Discord with emojis allows you to express yourself in a fun, personalized way. Here's how you can add both standard and custom emojis to your Discord status.

Prerequisites:

  • You need to be a member of a server that has custom emojis to use them in your status.

  • To use custom emojis across servers or animated emojis, you need Discord Nitro.

Step 1: Open Discord and Go to User Settings

  1. Open Discord (desktop app or web version).

  2. At the bottom-left corner of your screen, click on the gear icon next to your username. This opens User Settings.

Step 2: Set Your Custom Status

  1. In the User Settings menu, scroll down to the Set Status section and click on it.

  2. Select Set a custom status from the drop-down list.

Step 3: Add Emojis to Your Status

  1. Type your status in the provided text box.

  2. To add standard emojis:

    • Click on the emoji icon located on the right side of the text box and select any emoji you want.

    • Alternatively, you can type the emoji shortcut by using : followed by the emoji name (e.g.,).

  3. To add custom emojis from a server:

    • Type : followed by the emoji name from the server (e.g., :party_parrot:).

    • You’ll see a list of available emojis from servers you are a part of. Select the one you want.

  4. If you have Discord Nitro, you can:

    • Use custom emojis from any server, not just the one you're currently in.

    • Use animated emojis in your status.

Step 4: Set Expiry Time for Status (Optional)

  1. Discord allows you to set a time frame for how long your status will remain active.

  2. Below the status box, click the drop-down menu and select a time frame (e.g., "Don't Clear," "1 hour," "4 hours," "Today," or "This week").

Step 5: Save Your Custom Status

  1. After typing your custom status and adding emojis, click Save to apply the changes.

  2. Your custom emoji status will now be displayed next to your name for others to see.

Additional Notes:

  • Non-Nitro Users: You can use static custom emojis from any server you’re a member of in your status but can’t use them across servers or use animated emojis.

  • Nitro Users: You can use custom emojis from any server you’re in and use animated emojis in your status.

By following these steps, you can easily add custom or standard emojis to your Discord status, making your profile more expressive!
